Will U-ROAR! in 2009?!?!

What
The Uptown Rotary Ocmulgee Adventure Race (U-ROAR!) features an exciting mix of paddling, mountain biking, swimming, and hiking/trekking with navigation throughout. The 2009 race combines a 4-hour sprint race with an additional 4-hour race sure to challenge even the most experienced teams. The race location is a little over an hour southeast of downtown Atlanta on I-75. Teams competing in the combined 8-hour race will be eligible to win prizes in both categories for a maximum potential payout of $1,000.

This year’s race is being organized by the Rotary Club of Uptown Macon. 100% of the net proceeds will be distributed to charitable causes. Our primary recipient for the 2009 race is the Macon Rescue Mission. The Macon Rescue Mission is headquartered in Macon, GA and provides services to reduce poverty, fight homelessness, assist single parents and improve lives. A significant portion of the race profits will go towards the upkeep and improvement of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail (map), where the bulk of the race will take place. We are indebted to Newtown Macon for creating and maintaining this tremendous natural resource in the heart of Macon and establishing this great race, which is celebrating its 6th year. Finally, Uptown Macon Rotary will use a portion of the proceeds to further the objectives of many worthy local and global causes supported by Rotary International.
